Bottineau is said to be one of North Dakota's "best-kept secrets" and offers tons of outdoor recreation for all seasons. Summer activity includes swimming, boating, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking and biking at several lakes in the Turtle Mountains area. Winter brings downhill skiing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice fishing and skating. Autumn is a lovely time to visit with the changing of the leaves and hunting for deer and goose.
